Zhou Xun admits she has social phobia

10 Oct – Although she has been in showbiz for nearly 30 years, Chinese actress Zhou Xun recently admitted that she is not always comfortable being in the public's eye.

As reported on Epoch Times, the actress who appeared on the Chinese variety show, "PhantaCity", opened up about her difficulties following Jiang Xin's presentation about people living with social phobia.

Said Zhou, while she is comfortable being in front of the camera and portraying roles for a living, she would need some time to adapt to her surroundings away from her filming sets.

"Even today, for the recording of ["PhantaCity"], I experienced it. From the moment I get off the train, I started to feel nervous," she said.

Zhou said that TV host He Jiong would understand her the most, adding that the "Happy Camp" host would experience similar anxiety when he appeared in public despite having being a host for many years.

Also known as social anxiety disorder, it is characterised by intense anxiety or fear of being judged, negatively evaluated, or rejected in a social or performance situation.
