Zenith celebrates 50 years of Cohiba with limited-edition watch

The Zenith 'Academy Christophe Colomb Tribute To Cohiba' celebrates 50 years of Cohiba cigars

The Swiss watchmaker has unveiled the "Academy Christophe Colomb Tribute To Cohiba" wristwatch, paying homage to its partnership with the famous cigar brand Cohiba, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Only five unique editions of this timepiece -- which features an engraved and enameled gold dial -- will be available to collectors and fans of fine watchmaking.

Zenith couldn't pay homage to such a brand -- one of the world's most reputed -- without drawing inspiration from the cigar, or at least its components. As a result, the watch dial is fashioned from gold and hand-engraved with a refined design, reproducing the texture of a tobacco leaf and finished in an amber shade. This meticulously-crafted dial showcases the skill and creativity of the Zenith artisans, as well as their eye for fine detail.

The 45mm rose gold case is a perfect match for the amber brown dial, which features raised indexes that are facetted and plated in gold. The watch is finished with a brown alligator leather strap that's lined with rubber and features a rose gold deployment clasp.

The watch's inner workings are just as elegant, using the El Primero 8804 caliber, a manual-winding mechanical movement with 308 components. This notably stands out for its patented "Gravity Control" gyroscopic module, which counteracts the effects of gravity on the watch's mechanism. This is featured in a complication window at six o' clock.

The watch also has off-center hours and minutes at 12 o' clock, small seconds at nine o' clock and a power reserve indicator at three o' clock. This prestigious wristwatch has a 50-hour power reserve and is water-resistant upto 30 meters.

The "Academy Christophe Colomb Tribute to Cohiba" comes with a wooden humidor box that can be used to store cigars.
