Following numerous reports about the extensive reshoots on Justice League, now helmed by Joss Whedon, director Zack Snyder has confirmed that he will not be a part of the project again.

Since handing over the film to Whedon in the wake of a family tragedy, Snyder has been busy filming Snow Steam Iron, a short filmed entirely on an iPhone. It’s about a cop who abuses his girlfriend, leading her to seek revenge.

Speaking to Wired about the short, Snyder was asked if he was still involved in Justice League, or if he would at least see it through. The 51-year-old replied that it would be “unfair in a lot of ways” for him to get involved again after being off the movie for so long.

“I’m at a place where I feel excited about it and I’m happy for my guys and I love these people that are working on it, and they’re my family and I think they’re doing an amazing job. But I’ve kind of just let them do their thing.”

It’s worth noting that Whedon had been hired to punch up the Justice League script before Snyder left, and that the movie’s tone has been adjusted significantly after the reshoots. So we can’t help but ask: will it ultimately be Snyder’s or Whedon’s movie?

In any case, we at Geek Crusade wish Snyder and his family well.
