Zack Snyder Directed A Scene In Suicide Squad
It has come to light that Zack Snyder called the shots on one notable scene in Warner Bros/DC’s new release ‘Suicide Squad.’
Snyder has been the figurehead of the fledgling DC Extended Universe to date, as the director and one of the producers of launch pad movies ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ as well as the upcoming ‘Justice League.’
Small wonder, then, that Snyder had some degree of influence on the third DCEU film, even with David Ayer on board as writer and director – but it seems his fingerprints got a little deeper into the work than we might have anticipated.
Minor ‘Suicide Squad’ spoiler ahead…
It had already been revealed that Ezra Miller would cameo in ‘Suicide Squad’ as The Flash – and Ayer tells Collider that Snyder was the director on that one particular scene.
The sequence in question is a flashback revealing how Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang was apprehended at the hands of The Flash – and, while Ayer says this scene was always in the script, he did not shoot the footage of Miller as the Fastest Man Alive. Instead, Snyder shot this moment in London, presumably on the set of ‘Justice League.’
Ayer explains, “Flash was always in the movie, we just got lucky because ‘Justice League’ was happening and they had the uniform, they had the assets, so we were able to get that photography.”
Nor is The Flash the only Justice League member to make an appearance in ‘Suicide Squad,’ as Ben Affleck also pops up as Batman.
Though reviews have been mixed (though not quite so harsh as those ‘Batman V Superman’ received earlier this year), ‘Suicide Squad’ appears to be faring well commercially thus far, having reportedly raked in almost $30 million worldwide already as of Friday 5 August.
However, the film looks unlikely to be released in the lucrative market of China, because of its overtly bleak tone.
