Zac Efron reveals to Matthew Broderick how Ferris Bueller influenced his career on Graham Norton

We’ve all watched films that have made an impact on us and on this week’s Graham Norton Show Zac Efron revealed the one that meant so much for him – The eighties classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

The revelation came when he was sitting on the red couch next to the film’s star Matthew Broderick. In a genuinely touching moment, The Greatest Showman actor turned to his fellow thesp and said:

“When I saw that movie… you literally got me to start living my life to the fullest. Just with that performance – so thank you very much. I’ve always wanted to tell you.”

Also on the Graham Norton Show this week were Efron’s Bad Neighbours co-star Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron. Rogen quipped after the confession, that no one would ever say that about one of his films.

Broderick is currently starring in the West End in The Starry Messenger, but to this day finds that he is still recognised for his role as the truanting teen in the coming-of-age John Hughes movie. In fact, people still quote his “Life moves pretty fast” speech to him all the time.

Efron was on the show promoting his new movie Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile, a biopic about the serial killer Ted Bundy. He told Norton that he’d spent more than three weeks watching documentary footage of the infamous murderer, observing the man’s mannerisms but trying to avoid just impersonating him.

He hit the red carpet for the film’s premiere earlier in the week and released a short video on his social media feeds about his trip.
