Yui Aragaki voted the most likeable Japanese female talent
“Television Talent Image Research”, a Japanese study conducted twice a year by Video Research Ltd, has recently announced its findings for the second half of the year.
Taking first place on the “Female Talent Popularity” ranking is actress Yui Aragaki, who moved up from second place in the previous study held in February this year. This also marks her first time topping the ranking.
Aragaki first entered the Top 3 because of her lead role in last year’s popular television drama, “We Married as Job” (逃げるは恥だが役に立つ nigeru wa haji da ga yaku ni tatsu).
This time, the actress continued to shine brightly and won the hearts of many with her acting in the third season of the much-talked-about television drama “Code Blue”, which was broadcasted in July.

Aragaki is also known for her outstanding performances in other television dramas like “Legal High” and “Smile”, roles which won her the Best Supporting Actress gong in Japan’s Television Drama Academy Awards.
Taking second place in this ranking is Mao Asada, a former Japanese competitive figure skater. The only female figure skater to land three triple axel jumps in one competition, a high-technique figure skating jump with a forward take off.
The three-time world champion shocked many with her retirement announcement in April this year. This could explain why she left a lasting impression on voters, allowing her to move into the Top 3 from fourth place in the previous ranking.
In third place is actress Yuki Amami, known for dubbing Scarlet Overkill, the antagonist in “Minions”. Amami reprised her lead role in the second season of television drama “Emergency Interrogation Room” (緊急取調室 kinkyu torishirabe shitsu) in April this year.
She has also played a part in movies like “Let’s Go, Jets!” and “A Boy Who Wished to be Okuda Tamio and A Girl Who Drove All Men Crazy” and voiced in animated film “Mary and the Witch’s Flower”. Her consistent screen time this year probably is the reason why she managed to maintain her position from the previous research.
