Yu Zheng: I gave Michelle Chen a husband!
9 Jul – Chinese producer Yu Zheng doesn't seem to know when to quit, when he decided to continue arguing with Michelle Chen's fans over his previous statement regarding his casting choice for his 2013 series, "Romance of the Condor Heroes".
As reported on On CC, the whole issue sparked last week when the producer shared a photo of Angelababy in Little Dragon Girl costume that she wore in a recent variety show, and lamented how the actress would have been the perfect casting for his series and that he wouldn't have been ridiculed by fans of the franchise for his final choice otherwise.
Fans of Michelle immediately went on the offence, saying that Yu was being rude and insulting towards her, especially since the actress had to face a lot of backlash over playing Little Dragon Girl from fans who said that she was "too fat" for the character.
Yu then defended himself, saying that it wasn't his intention to insult anybody and that he would stay quiet for a while.
However, it was later revealed that the producer was not as quiet as he promised, and had been arguing with fans in the discussion group, saying that while his comments did indirectly harm Michelle, it was justified by the fact that his said drama united her and her now husband Chen Xiao.
"She shouldn't be petty since I gave her a husband and a chance to be popular, right?" and then added, "I even let her become the hottest search."
Fans were not amused at all by his jokes, saying that Michelle was already successful prior to starring in Yu's drama, and that the said drama only dragged her career due to the backlash.
