Temasek, a Singapore investment company, has announced that ‘20/20: The Temasek Short Film Project’ will be returning for a second season. Singapore-based film production company mm2 Entertainment will also continue to be a collaborator. This season’s theme is “Beyond 2020”, which encourages filmmakers to share their vision of a future Singapore.

The project aims to nurture the next generation of local filmmakers. Students and amateur filmmakers get a chance to be exposed to industry best practices and access to some of Singapore’s most renowned directors.

Twenty selected filmmaker groups will have the opportunity to be mentored by 10 of Singapore’s most acclaimed directors – Eric Khoo, Royston Tan, Boo Junfeng, Michelle Chong, K. Rajagopal, Kirsten Tan, Raihan Halim, Wee Li Lin, Ong Kuo Sin and Ervin Han.

More aspiring filmmakers will be able to participate in this season. While 20/20 was only open to polytechnic and tertiary school filmmaking students, this season is also open to young graduates and non-filmmaking majors. Secondary school and junior college students are also invited to produce music videos.

The first season sees its films receiving invitations to participate in international film festivals.  ‘I Believe’ screened at the AS Film Festival in Italy. ‘Mother’ was featured at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival in Canada.
