Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen is mourning the loss of her beloved sheepdog - and Our Yorkshire Farm co-star - Kate.

She described Kate as a “faithful workmate, companion, colleague and friend” in a Twitter tribute.

Owen went to fetch Kate from her kennel on Saturday morning, only to find that the 14-year-old sheepdog had passed away during her sleep.

She shared an array of photographs of herself with her pet, including selfies of them both during their countryside walks.

Less than an hour before posting the sad news on Twitter, Owen had posted a video of the morning sunshine on the hills, she had captioned the post: “There’s the morning when you feel on top of the world!”

A follow up post read: “Then there’s the other kind of mourning. Where you go to get your faithful workmate, companion, colleague & friend from her kennel. Only to find that she has passed away in her sleep. Kate….that’ll do.”

Amanda tweeted this picture with the words: 'Then there’s the other kind of mourning. , Where you go to get your faithful workmate, companion, colleague & friend from her kennel. Only to find that she has passed away in her sleep. , Kate….that’ll do.'

The news comes after it was revealed that Owen will not be featuring in a new spin-off show based on the hit series after separating from her husband.

Millions of viewers have watched Clive Owen and his wife Amanda raise their nine children since the show first aired in 2018.

But the new show, Beyond The Yorkshire Farm: Reuben & Clive, will feature only Clive and his eldest son, Reuben. It will follow them as they travel beyond their remote Yorkshire Dales farm to launch a new digging business together.

Marriage split

It comes after Clive and Amanda announced their separation after 21 years of marriage this summer.

They issued a joint statement in June in which they said they had made “the difficult decision to separate”.

The statement continued: “This hasn’t been easy, but we both believe it’s the right choice for the future of our family.

“Although we are no longer a couple, we continue to work on the farm and co-parent together, with our number one priority the happiness and well-being of our children.”

In an interview with The Telegraph in October, Owen said that hiding their split from fans had been difficult and that it was a relief to finally reveal the truth.

“You know when you have a pressure cooker, and you take the lid off and let the air out?” Owen said.

The couple last month reunited for their eldest daughter Raven's graduation, sharing photos alongside the 21-year-old at York St John University.

Owen wrote on Instagram: “A first-class week for Raven. What an incredible achievement.

“So proud to see her graduate at the glorious @york_minster_official @yorkstjohn. No amount of rain could dampen our spirits.”
