Four new tourist attractions are coming to Singapore this year, including New York’s popular Museum of Ice Cream.

The museum will open in the second half of the year in Dempsey. Others slated to launch include the SkyHelix Sentosa, which is a scenic 360-degree, open-air gondola ride on the tourist island; and the Slingshot, which catapults guests into the air.

The Singapore Tourism Board is also planning another attraction near Orchard Road but has yet to reveal what that is.

“These projects are a welcome breath of fresh air amongst all the negativity and bad news in the last year. Since the pandemic hit, we have focused on how to weather this ‘long winter,’” the board’s chief executive Keith Tan was quoted saying.

The ice cream museum is an outpost of the New York original, which has 13 installations, a cafe, and a shop. It will feature various fun and colorful installations for visitors to take photos with. According to its website, this will be its first international outpost.

The coronavirus has affected the global tourism industry due to travel restrictions, including Singapore, where around three million adults have been given S$100 vouchers to spend at local attractions as part of efforts to stimulate the economy.
