Yeng Constantino explains meaning of "Synesthesia"

19 Mar – It was the crossed sensory wires in her brain that has inspired Yeng Constantino to name her new album with Star Music - "Synesthesia".

According to an interview with ABS-CBN, the singer shared that she would often see colours in her daily life, explaining, "When I feel like eating, I see a colour. When I heard a song, I see a colour. When I see someone, I see a colour. It makes sense to me, but to others, it is considered not normal."

Constantino said that she never thought too much about it, and only found that it's a type of a neurological condition while having a meal with her husband, Victor "Yan" Asuncion.

Said the singer, she told her husband that her food is the colour purple, much to his surprise. She then explained that she didn't mean the colour of her food, but the colour of the taste.

"Then Yan told me that I may have synesthesia. So I went on Google, and it is exactly as it was described," she said.

According to britannica.com, Synesthesia is "a neuropsychological trait in which the stimulation of one sense causes the automatic experience of another sense."

It is stated that synesthesia is a genetically linked trait that affects 2 to 5 percent of the general population.
