Yen Santos admits leaving project with Gerald Anderson

12 Oct - Actress Yen Santos has recently confirmed previous speculations about her being replaced by Kim Chiu in the triathlon-themed series, "Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin".

As reported on PEP, earlier, it was Santos who was scheduled to star in the project with Gerald Anderson and Jake Cuenca, when it was first titled "Because You Loved Me". However, ABS-CBN later announced that the project was shelved and that they would instead reunite Anderson with his former onscreen partner, Kim Chiu.

Although no reason was given about the replacement, there were rumours that it was due to Santos having problems with the diving scenes.

When asked about it recently, Santos admitted that it was partly the issue, but added that she was the one who backed out from the project.

"In the beginning, it was my character, this girl who is also a triathlete. Of course, you need a lot of training to play the character, while in real life, I'm not an athletic person at all," she said.

However, Santos stated that she still tried and went on rigorous training in preparation for the drama.

But while she has no issue with cycling and running, Santos found that it was harder for her when it comes to swimming.

"My number one phobia is going into the water. I didn't want to be the cause for the delay in shooting the drama, so I spoke to the management about it. We had several meetings before they decided [to make the change]," she said.

Nonetheless, Santos said that she has no regrets about leaving the show, as she still has other offers aside from it. The actress is set to play a major role in the upcoming Kapamilya drama, "Love Will lead You Back", co-starring Jericho Rosales and Sam Milby.
