We all know that the year is officially approaching its end when Singapore’s shopping district gets adorned with mesmerising Christmas lights and decorations. This year is no different.
From 12 November to 1 January, the Christmas light-up along Orchard Road will start from 3pm each day, much earlier than previous years. This is so that visitors can catch the lights during the day as well as night. The official light-up will take place on 11 November at 6.30pm.
According to a press release on Wednesday (25 October), the theme for this year’s Christmas decorations is “Endless Wonder”, and includes features such as the main arch at the junction of Scotts Road and Orchard Road.
Standing 12 metres high, it is the highest arch in the history of Orchard Road’s Christmas decorations. Visitors can also expect two other arches at Tanglin and Somerset.
Other additions for this year include a Christmas Village at the Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza from 25 November to 25 December. Here, you will find pop-up stores by 25 brands such as The Royal Selangor. On Christmas Eve shoppers can also look out for a Countdown Concert featuring a line-up of local acts.
More pop-up stores will be set up along Orchard Road, between ION Orchard and Mandarin Gallery, from early November to 31 December. They include a series of “future-ready” retail pop-ups, which will utilise smart technology to offer a 360-degree wine experiences along with interactive product demonstrations, among others.
