SINGAPORE – In 2019, the final instalment of the Avengers series, Avengers: Endgame, caused quite a stir internationally as well as domestically. There is little to no surprise the cast (including the three Chrises) topped the list of most voted international male celebrities.

Donnie Yen

Hong Kong actor Donnie Yen is best known for his martial arts films, particularly the Ip Man movie franchise based on real life Wing Chun master Ip Man. The fourth instalment was released in December 2019 and Yen was in Singapore to promote the movie earlier this month. 

However, Yen recently revealed that the fourth instalment of the famous series will also be his final kungfu film, much to the dismay of fans.

“Baby” singer Justin Bieber tied the knot for the second time in September with model Hailey Baldwin, one year after getting officially married. The Christian ceremony took place at luxury waterfront resort Montage Palmetto Bluff in South Carolina, very much to the interest of the whole world.

The pop sensation had a high-profile relationship with singer and actress Selena Gomez so it was the talk-of-the-town when he got engaged to Baldwin.

Award-winning actor Joaquin Phoenix portrayed the Joker (2019), a mentally ill party clown who is beaten down by Gotham City throughout the course of the movie Joker. His performance in the movie has been widely raved about as he is known for extreme method acting.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson acted as lawman Hobbs, a loyal agent of America's Diplomatic Security Service in the action-packed movie Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019).

The movie lives up to the Fast And Furious tag, with insane stunts, high octane action and well-timed humour.

Jumanji: The Next Level (2019) also had wonderful reception thanks to huge stars such as himself, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart and Jack Black.

The Iron Man star has been hailed by many critics as one of the most brilliant and versatile actors of his generation. Iron Man gets paid in gold for his role in the Marvel Universe, earning about US$75 million for his role in Avengers: Endgame (2019).

Actor Chris Pratt also has a share in the star-studded Avengers: Endgame (2019) movie, portraying the role of Peter Quill the Star-Lord. In the same year, he voiced in Disney-Pixar's animated film Onward (2019) alongside his Avengers co-star Tom Holland.

He also married best-selling author and advocate Katherine Schwarzenegger in June. Katherine also happens to be the daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Tom Holland was quite the star this year, reprising his role as Spider-man in Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). 

He captured the hearts of Marvel fans since his debut appearance in Captain America: Civil War. Being cast as the third live-action Peter Parker was no easy task but he nailed it.

You would know him Chris Evans as the dashing Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He reprised his role in Avengers: Endgame (2019). 

However, after playing the role for a decade, he may be hanging up his shield in a bid to chart a new path outside of the Marvel universe. 

He makes his first stab at reinvention with Rian Johnson’s Knives Out (2019), a murder mystery film.

Bradley Cooper had had an eventful year. He watched A Star Is Born clean up at the awards show early this year and produced Joker (2019), which turned into a billion-dollar monster at the box office.

Thor actor Chris Hemsworth has had a great year at the box office, starring in hit films including the Men in Black reboot and the final instalment of the Avengers.

He is also quite the family man, prizing family time as one of his life priorities. He also recently posted a hilarious picture of himself being excluded from a family photo of his wife Elsa Pataky and her relatives.
