This Is Us is here to stay for the next few weeks. NBC has extended their order to 18 episodes for the highly-anticipated drama series.

That’s no surprise, since the show brought in nearly 14 million viewers with its premiere episode. Created by Crazy Stupid Love mastermind Dan Fogelman, This Is Us stars Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Chrissy Metz, Sterling K. Brown, and Justin Hartley.

The second episode of This Is Us aired last night (September 27th) and its ratings were nearly as impressive as its first week. The series attracted 8.9 million viewers, falling to the second place position just behind The Voice.

Even before the show aired, its trailer was met with so much excitement that it broke a record. It was viewed over 50 million times on Facebook in less than two weeks.

Dan Fogelman says he’s baffled by the trailer’s popularity, but thinks this may be the perfect time for This Is Us.

“God, I have no idea. I think NBC did a wonderful job with it. With the entire campaign. And I think it might just be the right place and time for a show like this? With everything going on in the world? Or it’s Milo’s ass. Or some combination thereof,” Dan told Deadline. Probably Milo’s ass, IMHO.

Its premiere episode was much-talked about, throwing viewers for a loop when an emotional twist was discovered in the last few minutes (we won’t say what it was — if you haven’t watched, you NEED to, like, right now).

If you haven’t already seen the second episode, you’re in for another unexpected surprise — but, of course, this is a spoiler-free zone, so you’ll have to find out what it is on your own!

This Is Us airs on Tuesday nights on NBC at 10 p.m. EST.
