Yang Zi accused of plagiarising IU's album cover

27 May – Chinese actress Yang Zi has been accused of plagiarism, after her recent promotional image released online looks eerily similar to a certain South Korean singer's album cover.

As reported on Epoch Times, the actress recently released a promotional video to announce her collaboration with Artiz Studio. Several images were also released, with her holding white flowers, surrounded by purple flowers and her hair in a similar colour.

However, netizens who saw the photo immediately noticed that the promotional image resembled the concept of Korean singer IU's 2019 album, "Love Poem", including the colour of her hair.

In another photo, the actress held a purple balloon, similar to another one of IU's promotional photo for the said album.

Moreover, the purple book in Yang's advertisement video also looked similar to the one in IU's album - with both displaying an illustration of white flowers and an English title. While IU's album has the word "Love Poem" on it, the book in Yang's promo has the word "Purple" written on it.

Neither Yang Zi nor the ad agency have responded to the plagiarism rumours.
