Yan Ng admits business in trouble due to third wave of COVID-19
30 Jul – With restaurants and cafes in Hong Kong banned from providing dine-in service to customers due to the resurgence of COVID-19 cases, Yan Ng recently revealed that her rice ball business, Sweet Bandott has been feeling the effect of it.
As reported on Mingpao, the singer who was spotted managing one of her stores in Causeway Bay recently, stated that despite her store having done more delivery service than others, her business at that particular store plummeted when students - who have always been their main customers - had their summer break early due to the pandemic.
"On the other hand, the Mongkok store was affected by the number of cases in the mall (in Grand Plaza) and now there are fewer people visiting because of it. The one in Kwun Tong is having problems because office workers are now working at home or would bring their own lunch boxes to the office instead," she added.
As for one in Victoria Peak, Yan said that it was already facing problems as their biggest customers were tourists.
"We are currently discussing countermeasures," she added.
Yan stated that in order to save the business and secure jobs for her employees, she has launched package discounts and even meal delivery service in which the store will send out orders to commercial buildings nearby.
However, despite the situation, the singer stated that she still plans to open a new store during the pandemic, and has even gone to visit several potential locations.
"Sheung Wan shop rentals are expensive. We are considering to move to Kowloon Bay or Kwun Tong and open in September if everything goes well," she said.
