Yamashita Tomohisa to star in "The Drops of God"

25 Aug – Yamashita Tomohisa is set to star in the upcoming live-action remake of the famed manga, "The Drops of God" ("Kami no Shizuku").

As reported on Variety, the upcoming series to be produced by Legendary Television, Dynamic Television, Hulu Japan and Adline Entertainment, will have Yamashita playing Tomine Issei, a young wine critic of whom the female protagonist Kamille has to compete with in order to claim her inheritance - the world's greatest wine collection.

On the other hand, the role of Kamille will be played by French actress Fleur Geffrier.

The adapted screenplay is written by Quoc Dang Tran ("Marianne"), and is directed by Oded Ruskin ("Absentia", "No Man's Land"). Filming will be done in France, Italy and Japan.

Based on Yuko and Shin Kibayashi's story with artwork by Okimoto Shu, the manga was serialised in "Morning" from 2004 to 2014 with 44 volumes overall.

It was previously adapted into another live-action series starring Kamenashi Kazuya in 2009.
