Yahoo Review: A Flying Jatt

Cast: Tiger Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez, Amrita Singh, Kay Kay Menon, Nathan Jones

Direction: Remo D’Souza

Rating: *

I had a sneaking suspicion that the best thing about this film would be the ‘Beat pe booty’ song. Unfortunately, I was completely right. There is nothing watchable in Remo’s flight of fantasy, except this very peppy number and Jacky’s glistening skin.

The thing is that this film would have perfectly worked if this were a spoof on superhero films; it is actually bizarre that the filmmakers have approached this story in all earnestness and made this film as serious business.

Remo understands dance, a superhero flick with a dollops of gyaan on environmental pollution and its impact is much beyond his ilk. If he had concentrated on giving us a fun film about a superhero who loves to dance, may be this would have worked. The sermonizing on ecological issues is an effort in futility.

‘A Flying Jatt’ borrows heavily from any and every superhero Hollywood/Bollywood film that you have seen thus far. And, yet it churns out utter rubbish.

There is very little to say about this unsuspecting, reluctant superhero – no super power can save Tiger Shroff’s preposterous choice of career. Martial arts? Yes. Dancing? Yes. But acting? Nah, nah, it is as outrageous as the climax of this film.

I am undecided between who was more repulsive – Nathan Jones as the Frankensteinish villain or Amrita Singh as the loud and overbearing mother. Kay Kay Menon is completely wasted in a negative role.

I don’t know what it is about Bollywood and its unsuccessful attempts at delivering one watchable superhero story.

Some people were deliriously laughing during the climax, I was worried for them, felt like they were reacting in disbelief at the ridiculousness of the events unfolding in front of them.

Watch ‘A Flying Jatt’, if you want to take a closer look at Jacqueline’s booty on the big screen.
