True to David Duchovny’s promise that The X-Files will be back ‘soonish’, 20th Century Fox has ordered 10 new episodes of the cult TV series for the 2017-18 broadcast season. The central trinity of Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and creator and executive producer Chris Carter have all signed on.
David Madden of Fox had this to say:
“Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators — these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. And they are some of the reasons why The X-Files has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide. Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files.”
We got six episodes of X-Files last year, to the delight of geeks everywhere. And while the results were decidedly mixed, the old magic between Mulder and Scully was well and alive. And it’s obviously lucrative enough for Fox to persist with it, so we can all look forward to more supernatural adventures with our favourite FBI agents.
Are you psyched about the X-Files revival? Tell us, geeks!
