7 Sep – Actress Wu Jinyan took to social media to express her thoughts about her new drama, "Knock on Happiness Door", and the comments made by netizens about her lacking hit shows since the end of "Story of Yanxi Palace".
The actress expressed her feelings about the comments on her Weibo account, saying that she chose the script because of how different it was from other projects that came her way.
"I have never been in touch with such a character before. In fact, I saw some comments saying that they didn't even realise that [my character] Fang Yan was played by Wei Yingluo herself," she said, the latter referring to her character from the 2017 hit series.
She also touched on the subject of her supposedly not having any hits since "Story of Yanxi Palace", saying, "Although every actor expects their project to be a hit, the crew are also working hard for it. But I care more about each new role, so that I can learn new knowledge and gain new experience."
In the same post, Wu expressed her frustration that some netizens were questioning the story of "Knock on Happiness Door" about a Chinese raising a foreign child, saying that it was not about anybody's nationality.
"Mumu is first of all a child who has lost his parents. These two kind-hearted people decided to raise him instead of giving him up. I don't think this is an issue worth any debate. Should people stand by and watch just because he is of mixed race?" she added.
