The Football Agent went to see the Head Coach to talk about his players.

‘Ok, what have you got for me?’ asked the Head Coach.

‘Two midfielders,’ said the Football Agent. ‘One is 25 and has had a good season for his club. He can see a pass, has a good engine and covers the ground. All in all, a determined player, worthy of the top flight.’

‘I know him, he’s good, what’s the price?’ enquired the Head Coach.

‘£3 million and great value for it,’ said the Football Agent.

‘And your other player?’ asked the Head Coach.

‘Wow, he is special,’ enthused the Football Agent. ‘Only 17 and also a midfielder. This one has only played a handful of games though. He glides over the grass, scored a stunning goal in his second game and is eager to learn. I think he will have it all. England class in my view.’

‘Sounds good,’ said the Head Coach, leaning in. ‘How much?’

‘£10 million,’ said the Football Agent without missing a beat.

‘But how can he cost three times more than the proven good player?’ asked the Head Coach in disbelief.

‘Because of what he could be,’ replied the Football Agent.

Moral of the tale: Potential is one of the most valuable commodities in business.
