Taking on the might of Germany at the height of World War I, it looks as though Wonder Woman will be facing Doctor Poison – a classic comic book villain who’s getting her first big screen appearance.

“You are in more danger than you think,” says Steve Trevor. “The boys in the trenches called her Doctor Poison.”

Introducing Doctor Poison – played by Elena Anaya.

Doctor Poison has appeared as a regular nemesis of Wonder Woman throughout the comic books, and originally appeared as a Nazi doctor during World War II. But while the villain is clearly being re-imagined to fit in with the World War I setting, her costume is staying pretty faithful to the original.

Of course, that’s not all we see in this action-packed new trailer.

There’s plenty of thrills, explosions and kick-ass fight scenes as Wonder Woman brings the fight to the bad guys. We even get a glimpse of young Diana on Themiscyra, being schooled about the brutality of mankind by her mother, Queen Hippolyta. Throw in some choice clips and an impressive soundtrack and the rise of Wonder Woman has never looked so good.

Let’s just hope the film is at least half as good as this impressive trailer.

‘Wonder Woman’ stars Gal Gadot as the iconic superhero, alongside Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen, Lucy Davis, and David Thewlis.

Patty Jenkins directed the movie based on a script by Allan Heinberg.

‘Wonder Woman’ heads to cinemas on 1 June 2017.
