A spontaneous bride-to-be has shocked guests after turning her 30th birthday party into a surprise wedding.

Samantha Allan and her fiancé James made the brash decision in order to ensure theirs were ‘no fuss, no hassle’ nuptials surrounded by those closest to them.

With that in mind, the couple, from Fyfe in Scotland, thought the best course of action was to roll it into Samantha’s 30th birthday party – following a legal ceremony at a registry office the day before.

Apart from a few close family members who attended the ceremony, the rest of the couple’s family and friends arrived at the birthday celebration thinking it was just that.

But mid-way through the festivities, Samantha’s mother took to the mic and announced to the group the real reason they were assembled.

She asked guests to turn and look towards the back of the room before the new Mr and Mrs Allen made an emotional entrance in their wedding outfits.

For Samantha, the double celebration was the perfect way to mark two significant milestones – and also meant she and James shaved thousands off a typical wedding budget.

“It all went perfectly on the day. I couldn’t have asked for a better wedding day and all for about £1500,” she told Metro.co.uk.

“I would much rather put a large sum of money towards a house for my family than on one day for my wedding.”

And despite its intended purpose to keep festivities both cheap and cheerful, Samantha said there was also another perk not typically afforded to most brides to be.

“I got to wear my dress twice,” she said.

“I married the man I want to spend the rest of my life with, with my closest family there to witness and had the most amazing day, both days.”
