If there’s one person you’d think would love you unconditionally, flaws and all, it’s the man who decided to marry you.

But one 31-year-old woman has been left ‘in tears’ after her 27-year-old husband pleaded with her to get Botox, telling her it ‘f**** him up to see her smile or laugh’.

The couple have been married for less than six months, but were dating for five years before they decided to tie the knot and now the woman has taken to Reddit to ask for advice on her bizarre situation.

Asked her to consider Botox

They were in the middle of a move when her husband woke her up during the night in tears and asked her quietly: “Would you consider getting Botox?”

“I was stunned. Shaken. Hurt. I tried to brush it off, but it was the way in which he said it. Not jokingly or off the cuff. No, this was something that had been eating at him for weeks. In my mind, every time he looked at me, he was judging me and thinking I was some hideously wrinkled creature,” she said.

She went on to say that he’s been ‘crying every day’, saying it ‘makes him feel better’ and while she thought they’d gotten through the botox comment, he brought it up again days after he first implored her to consider it.’

“After a moment of silence I told him I thought we have no choice but to divorce. I told him that when I look at him, I see perfection. And why don’t I deserve the same?,” the woman said.

“I don’t believe I’m anywhere near ugly enough to warrant my husband crying nightly because he feels “f***** up” when he looks at me.”

Her dilemma

At 31, the woman said she finds it hard for her husband to look at her as an ‘old woman’ and worries about what he’ll actually think when she actually is ‘old and wrinkled’.

“These are my “good” years and I feel like I’m past due. How am I ever supposed to feel attractive again? I now look in the mirror and can’t unsee what he sees. But I like myself too much to live the rest of my life constantly feeling under the microscope of my husband, the man who is supposed to love and protect me,” she wrote.

The woman went on to say that she doesn’t want Botox and she’s always been comfortable in her own skin but claimed her happiness is causing her husband pain.

People are outraged

People commented telling the woman her husband’s behaviour is ‘insane, calculated and manipulative’.

‘Is there any history that suggests he is controlling? I definitely wouldn’t run out and get Botox, but I am struggling with which I would seek out first a therapist or an attorney.,” one person said.

“Crying every day and his obsession with Botoxing your face is indicative of a real disorder. Please tell your family about what’s going on,” another person said.

Others worried for the woman, saying that there is something seriously off with her husband’s behaviour.
