Will.i.am has revealed an unlikely musical collaboration with Sarah Ferguson.

The 44-year-old singer said that the Duchess of York told him that she writes poetry, when he was invited over for tea.

Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ on Wednesday morning, ‘The Voice’ star said: “She writes poetry. So, a long time ago we had tea, she was like, ‘you should come over to my house for tea’… she said, ‘you know I write poetry’.

“I was like, ‘you know what would be real cool, if you recited some of your poetry over some of my music’.”

Will.i.am was the frontman of hip hop group The Black Eyed Peas, which included singer Stacy Ann Ferguson, known as Fergie.

Her debut solo album ‘The Dutchess’, is a play on words from the Duchess of York.

Will.i.am laughed: “I thought it would be fun as everybody knows me and Fergie but to have Fergie, the real Fergie, drop some poetry lyricals over my beats! She’s always been cool!”

Unfortunately the public won’t get to hear it, as he added that the work was just for fun and not for chart release.

Will.i.am also revealed that Prince Andrew‘s former wife had made a private visit to the children he helps mentor at his i.am.angel foundation, which aims to transform lives through education.

He said: “She is amazing. She came to my ghetto, she came and visited my school, a couple of years back, taking that trip to LA (which she does often) but to come and spend some time with the kids who go to my school… for her to come there and encourage them and root them on…she really has a special place in my heart.”

The duchess, 59, attended the Bahrain Grand Prix at the weekend with the Duke of York, 59, and their eldest daughter Princess Beatrice, 30.

It sparked rumours that the couple, who divorced in 1996, were back together again. However, according to The Sun, a spokesman for Sarah said: “The Duke and Duchess of York continue to be good friends and nothing has changed in their relationship.”

During an interview earlier this year, the mother-of-two called Andrew a “great father” and said “The way we have always managed is to be very, very solidified as a team together.”
