Why Tiffany Rousso, Louis Tomlinson and Victor Arroyo Are TV’s Social Media MVPs of the Week

An ousted “Big Brother” contestant, another “BB” resident who battled back and an “America’s Got Talent” guest judge got viewers talking passionately on social media over the past week.

The Wrap has partnered with Canvs, a language analytics company that measures emotions around content, for a weekly look at the characters and stars that have TV viewers the most worked up. The data below covers July 18-24 and is drawn from the most emotionally-reacted-to broadcast and cable television shows and specials.

Of the 124,231 specific Emotional Reactions (ERs) prompted by the July 20 episode of “America’s Got Talent,” 88,944 (72 percent) were because of guest judge Louis Tomlinson, of boy-band One Direction fame. Needless to say, his fans were, OMG, SO EXCITED!

Of the 16,836 ERs prompted by the July 21 episode of “Big Brother,” 2,020 (12 percent) were thanks to contestant Tiffany Rousso, who was sent packing — for good, it seems, because she also failed to make the cut for the “Battle Back” competition (the subject of the July 22 edition of “Big Brother”; see below). A critical mass of viewers wanted Tiffany to survive — for various reasons.

A second “Big Brother” contestant also makes our list, thanks to the show’s clever addition of a “Battle Back” competition that gives selected ousted contestants a chance at redemption. Of the 17,439 ERs prompted by the July 22 episode of “Big Brother,” 3,109 (18 percent) were due to contestant Victor Arroyo, whose snatching of victory from the jaws of defeat had some viewers cheering his return — and some simply expressing surprise at his comeback.
