Why Cardi B Decided to Divorce Offset
Cardi B filed for divorce from her husband, Offset, and went live on Instagram to reveal that the split has nothing to do with "cheating."
The superstar rapper reportedly tried to make her marriage work over the years for the sake of the couple's two-year-old daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus.
"Cardi B looked the other way because of the baby. [But] she also didn't want to be embarrassed. She's had enough," a source told People.
When Cardi B filed for divorce after nearly three years of marriage, People reported Offset's long-rumored infidelity played a major role in the split.
According to the outlet, the "Bodak Yellow" rapper overlooked her husband's indiscretions over the years for the sake of their two-year-old daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus.
"Offset has pretty much cheated the entire time [they've been together], but Cardi looked the other way because of the baby," a source said at the time. "She also didn't want to be embarrassed. But she's had enough." However, Cardi B is now setting the record straight in her own words.
The rapper went live on Instagram on Friday night and shared a voice message with her fans. Cardi explained, "The reason for my divorce is not from none of that shit from ever before. It’s not from cheating." She continued, "I got tired of fucking arguing. I got tired of not seeing things eye-to-eye. When you feel like things aren’t the same anymore, before you actually get cheated on, I’d rather just leave."

Furthermore, Cardi stipulated, "Nothing crazy out of this world happened, sometimes people really do grow apart. I’ve been with this man for four years. I have a kid with this man, I have a household with this man. Sometimes you’re just tired of the arguments and the buildups. You get tired sometimes. And before something bad happens, before you get left or cheated on, sometimes you just want to leave. What is so bad about that?"
Previously, a source for E! News explained that the couple's lack of trust within their relationship wouldn't have worked to their benefit going forward.
"Cardi does not trust Offset. She's really tried for the last two years and has tried to forgive him. It's been hard for her since the last cheating scandal and there have been rumors of him being unfaithful again," E!’s insider said. "He has been pleading with her that he hasn't, but many girls have come forward with claims. She had enough and decided to file."
Further, the insider said that Cardi also "wants to be a good example for her daughter and women out there" by going public with the divorce proceedings.
Cardi filed for divorce yesterday at an Atlanta courthouse. A hearing is set for November 4 at 10 a.m. ET.
