With everyone locked in quarantine, most people have turned to the latest Netflix crime documentary series Tiger King for entertainment.

The outrageous and constantly surprising seven part series has kept everyone hooked, too. So much so that a scripted version of Tiger King has apparently already been discussed. Kate McKinnon is even attached to star as Carole Baskin, the animal rights activist that zoo owner Joe Exotic allegedly plotted to kill.

Tiger King co-director Rebecca Chaiklin has already spoken to Exotic about who should play him in a potential movie or TV show, and he, unsurprisingly, has some suggestions.

“He would like Brad Pitt or David Spade to play him,” Chaiklin told The Hollywood Reporter, before adding, “He doesn’t refer to David Spade as David Spade — he refers to him as Joe Dirt.”

For those of you that don’t have an encyclopedic knowledge of David Spade’s career, Joe Dirt is a 2001 comedy in which he played the titular character, who travels across the country in search of his parents.

Spade has even responded to the rumours that he would make a great Joe Exotic, telling Entertainment Tonight over video chat that there are actually numerous parallels between Tiger King and Joe Dirt.

“[In] Joe Dirt, I get a job on an alligator farm in Florida and then I get caught in the alligator, he flips me around … that whole world that we were into in that movie and it's very similar and the reason these people are doing interviews is because of Joe Dirt."

Unfortunately, Spade doesn’t think he could actually play Joe Exotic, although he did offer up an alternative option in the shape of Woody Harrelson.
