White House Locked Down Over ‘Suspicious Package,’ Suspect in Custody

The Secret Service briefly placed the White House on lockdown Tuesday morning over a “suspicious package” in the area. A man has been taken into custody and a bomb robot was sent to investigate the package, according to a reporter on the scene.

Social media and online news organizations quickly covered the event, but cable news appeared to ignore the lockdown for reasons not yet known. However, One America News Network correspondent Trey Yingst took to Twitter to provide photos and details.

According to Yingst, reporters were waiting in the West Wing for the lockdown to end. The package was found on Pennsylvania Avenue and the Secret Service locked reporters inside the briefing room after evacuating the North lawn, according to Yingst.

Eventually, the Secret Service verified that the lockdown was lifted.
