Approximately 2 decades ago one of the greatly talked-about sitcoms of its time– Two and a half men aired with Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer, and Angus Jones as the leads. The show revolves around Jake who is forced to move in with his uncle Charlie (Charlie Sheen) and his dad (Jon Cryer) after the divorce of his parents.
Sooner than expected, Angus Jones aka Jake the chubby-cheeked guy became a very familiar household name. Not long after earning fame from the show, he was all over the news and unfortunately, for not-so-good reasons. Angus left the show at around S10 which stirred a lot of controversies. The makers of the show rounded up his exit by making the character move to Japan. But, what was the real reason behind it?
Where did Angus Jones disappear ?
During the start of 2010, Jones started getting involved in religious activities. He gave an interview to The Forerunner Chronicles, wherein he was seen calling the show filthy and urged people not to continue watching it. When his interview went viral and spurred controversy, he released his blunder and eventually apologized. In another interview, he said he felt like a hypocrite and thus, left the show midway because it didn’t align with his thoughts and beliefs. Though, after the much talked about controversy, he made a special appearance in the season finale of Two and a Half Men.
The famous chubby-cheeked boy now joined college after bidding adieu to entertainment and acting. At the University of Colorado, he enrolled in an environmental studies program. Later the end of freshmen year he switched to Jewish studies. Jones appreciated a life away from fame and attention.
After all the drama involved around religious belief, he decided to take a step back from all this. In an interview with People, he said, “I’m interested in seeing where I go. Without an organization putting a stamp of approval. If I’m good or bad or whatever.” However, he was later on seen playing the role of Horace. ‘Horace and Pete’ was created by Louis CK. Not only on screen but Angus was also seen trying his hand behind the scenes too. He soon became the president of entertainment at an event company.
The former child actor says he regrets nothing and is still open to possibilities of getting back to acting. Though there isn’t much information on this. Jones seems to be well content with his current life. We can just hope to see our chubby-cheeked guy transform into a handsome man and steal our hearts again.
