Cyber Monday will be here next month, giving you another excuse to splash the cash after Black Friday in preparation for the festive season ahead, as retailers reduce their prices on popular products.

There are two differences between Cyber Monday and it’s sibling Black Friday; Cyber Monday deals only apply to online shops, and there is a strict 24-hour shopping window.

Here’s everything you need to know about Cyber Monday 2019.

When is Cyber Monday?

This year Cyber Monday takes place on December 2 - this is actually a week later than usual, giving consumers six fewer days to shop.

What is Cyber Monday?

Cyber Monday has now become a regular fixture in the run-up to Christmas.

It was intentionally established and promoted by a marketing team at Shop.org, a division of the National Retail Federation.

The intention was to provide online retailers with a hook to equal the frenzy driven by Black Friday sales, and the term was first used in 2005. It didn’t start out as the busiest online shopping day of the year, but has since become a profitable success.

Many consumers were already hooked on Black Friday deals, and continued to shop through the weekend and into the following week, and Cyber Monday delivered another boost to increased online shopping in the pre-Christmas season.

Once again it originated in the United States; this year, according to Adobe Analytics' Holiday Forecast 2019 Cyber Monday is predicted to become the largest - and fastest-growing online shopping day of the year with $9.4 billion in sales, an 18.9 per cent increase year over year.
