What to know about EXO and the EXOPLANET concert in Singapore

Back in 2012, EXO exploded into the music scene with 12 members who were also divided into two sub-groups, EXO-K and EXO-M.

The ‘K’ in EXO-K stands for Korean and the ‘M’ in EXO-M stands for Mandarin; each sub-group released songs in both languages to promote their music simultaneously in the Korean and Chinese markets.

After the departure of three members from EXO-M, the remaining nine members of EXO continue to perform and release music in both Korean and Mandarin as a whole group.

Acting chops

Aside from singing, they have also dabbled in acting in movies, TV dramas and musicals.

The group’s rapper, Chanyeol, was last seen in the recently concluded mystery-thriller drama, “Missing Nine” (he also collaborated with Punch for the intro song to the hit K-drama “Goblin”), Chinese member Lay starred opposite Jackie Chan in the movie “Kungfu Yoga”, while vocalist Baekhyun appeared in “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo”, the Korean TV adaptation of the hit Chinese drama “Moon Lovers”.

Former member Luhan last starred opposite Matt Damon in “The Great Wall”, while fellow ex-member Kris Wu was last in “XXX: Return of Xander Cage” alongside Vin Diesel.

Earlier in January, Singaporean concert organiser ONE Production revealed that EXO would be returning to perform in Singapore for their third concert tour “EXO Planet #3 – The EXO’rDIUM” on 2 April at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

However, on 8 March, concert promotions company Dream Maker Entertainment announced on their Facebook page that Lay would not be attending concerts in North America, Malaysia and Singapore due to other commitments.

The concert in Singapore will also feature a ‘water’ stage, where water pours down from the ceiling with the members dancing underneath.
