What Matthew Vaughn would have done with Superman and 'Man Of Steel 2'
Matthew Vaughn has opened up about what he would have done with Man Of Steel 2, which he was previously in negotiations to direct, but has since moved on from.
Vaughn has confirmed that Man Of Steel 2 is “officially” no longer in the works, but couldn’t help but tease just how far he got into development with the sequel.

The Kick-Ass and Kingsman director didn’t work on the film alone, though, as he presented his pitch for Man Of Steel alongside comic-book writer and artist Mark Millar. Millar and Vaughn already have proven just how formidable they are as a creative duo, as both Kick-Ass and Kingsman were originally Millar comics.
Millar and Vaughn actually pitched Warner Bros their vision for a Superman trilogy all the way back in 2008, which was before 2013’s Man Of Steel and after 2006’s underwhelming Superman Returns. This would have been a more “uplifting” and “hopeful” Superman story, according to Millar, however the studio went with Zack Snyder’s take instead.
Vaughn recently told Polygon that his proposed sequel to Man Of Steel, which he pitched to Warner Bros around a year ago, would have been very similar to his and Millar’s original vision.
The website reported, “Vaughn revealed that the first film in the proposed trilogy was meant to take place almost entirely on Krypton, and focus on Jor-El and the impending explosion of Krypton.”

“Though the alien planet would still face destruction, Vaughn and Millar’s take would have the event take place much later in the timeline, allowing Superman to grow up on his home planet and gradually become familiar with Earth, maturing into an adult before having to reckon with his loyalty to both planets.”
There’s still a chance that Vaughn will one day get to do his take on Superman, though. Because when he was asked if he still harboured hope of working with DC in the future, he declared, “It’d be hard to say no.”
