Wendi McLendon-Covey, Josh Peck, More Turn Out to Support Parkinson’s Research

The stars lined up on Wednesday night to support Michael J. Fox’s charity Team Fox – The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. The event was held at executive chef Phil Kastel’s new seafood restaurant Laurel Point in Studio City, Calif.

Celebrities such as “Glee” actress Naya Rivera, “Grandfathered” star Josh Peck, “90210” actor Dustin Milligan and actress Tori Spelling turned out to support Team Fox’s annual charity event “Raising the Bar to End Parkinson’s.”

“We’re blessed with so much experience and privilege,” said Peck. “When you’re a public figure, and you’re afforded this voice, you have a responsibility to give back in any what that you can.”

“Bridesmaids” actress Wendi McLendon-Covey, one of the evening’s honorary hosts, stated her ardor for supporting as many charities as she can.

“I’m happy to lend my voice whenever I’m asked, and sometimes when I’m not asked” said McLendon-Covey. “There comes a time when you have to speak out and you have to let everyone know ‘this is happening.'”

Celebrities were seen mingling and laughing at Laurel Point, which opens to the public on August 1. At one point, “Shameless” actor Steve Howey jokingly stole an entire plate of hors d’oeuvres for himself. Some attendees were even spotted sitting awkwardly in a corner texting. Stars: they’re just like us.

Two signature cocktails were created for the event, each inspired by Fox films. Guests also enjoyed a range of Korean-fusion bites and Japanese-inspired seafood entrées created by Kastel, such as Koreatown crispy chicken sliders, crab deviled eggs with smoked roe and an array of hand-crafted sushi rolls.

Though Fox himself was not in attendance on Wednesday evening, the event successfully raised $50,000, according to Team Fox. Funds were also raised through a popular raffle and silent auction, featuring prizes such as three nights in a deluxe suite at the Rosewood Hotel in London. The foundation has already raised about $600 million to date.
