Arts in Your Neighbourhood
Arts in Your Neighbourhood by the National Arts Council will be hosting art performances and activities at various heartlands across Singapore. While all of the activities are free, be sure to register online.

NUS Arts Festival
Take part in the 12th edition of the NUS Arts Festival with over 25 events in store, ranging from dance, music, film, and theatre. Titled “Brave New Worlds”, the event takes place at the NUS Kent Ridge campus, the Esplanade as well as the School of the Arts’ Concert Hall.

Rediscovering Treasures: Ink Art from Xiu Hai Lou Collection
Founded by the late art collector Yeo Khee Lim, the Xiu Hai Lou collection is the largest private collection of Chinese painting and calligraphy in Singapore today. The exhibition will showcase close to 100 works, offering visitors a rare insight into the evolution of modern Chinese painting.
When: Till 3 December (Sunday to Thursday: 10am to 7pm; Friday and Saturday: 10am to 10pm)

Constellations
Award-winning play Constellations tells the story of how a romance between a physicist and a beekeeper plays out over multiple realities.

Naiise X Dazzling Cafe workshops
Homegrown store Naiise brings their workshops to Dazzling Cafe. Expect to get a crash course on crafts such as brush lettering and flower arrangement while munching on dessert toasts.

Blossom Bliss floral display
Can’t make it to Japan to see the cherry blossoms? There’s always Gardens by the Bay. Enjoy a relaxing day surrounded by sakura blossoms and bonsai arrangements at the highly-raved about Blossom Bliss floral display.

Those Who Can’t, Teach
Local theatre company The Necessary Stage celebrates its 30th anniversary with a restaging of Those Who Can’t, Teach. Written by Cultural Medallion winners Haresh Sharma and Alvin Tan, the play – staged in 1990 – follows the story of a ragtag group of secondary school students and their teachers.
When: Shows from 9 to 11 and 15 to 18 March starts at 8pm, while shows from 11 to 12 and 18 to 19 March 2017 starts from 3pm

Choking Hazard: An Exhibition about Toys
Explore quirky artworks by 30 artists and toymakers from around the world at this one-of-a-kind exhibition. Inspired by industrial waste produced as a result of mass production and consumerism, here you will see works consisting of dismantled toys. Visitors can also create their own works at the exhibition.

Molasses
Award-winning Indonesian artist Agong Prabowo presents a solo exhibition of linocut prints on handmade paper inspired by the therapeutic power of molasses.

PRESSPLAY
The annual youth festival brings together local designers, art collectives and musicians to make the arts more accessible. Activities include artisanal workshops, panel discussions, and free live performances.

NASA: A Human Adventure
Explore the galaxy at Singapore’s largest space exhibition to date. Spread across five galleries, highlights from this exhibition include a full-size model of the Apollo Command Module and a showcase that tells the story of the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union.

Artist and Empire: (En)countering Colonial Legacies
In association with Tate Britain, this exhibition details the rise of modern art in former British colonies. Over 200 works from the 16th century till present are being exhibited, with highlights including artist Wong Hoy Cheong’s reimagining of a living room constructed from architectural fixtures salvaged during the upgrading of the former Supreme Court and City Hall.

St Patrick’s Day Street Festival
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in a bout of merrymaking at Boat Quay. Besides chugging beers and stouts, look out for live music performances, family-friendly activities such as balloon sculpting and airbrush tattooing.

Make the Future Singapore
UK pop singer Pixie Lott will be performing at this four-day festival by Shell, that celebrates ideas and innovations. Held across four days at the Changi Exhibition Centre, Lott will be performing alongside local acts Nathan Hartono, Take Two and Disco Hue. Besides music, the event also features the Shell Eco-marathon Asia, a competition where students build the most energy-efficient cars.

LOCK ROUTE: Public Art @ Gillman Barracks
Inspired by the 24km route march army recruits go through, LOCK ROUTE features 16 outdoor installations, murals, and sculptures from 15 local and international artists.

Collecting Magic: From Stamps to Wands
Dive into the world of Harry Potter at a Harry Potter-themed exhibition. Here, you can find Harry Potter-themed stamps from around the world, including the world’s first licensed stamp set issued by Taiwan. Other collectibles and movie memorabilia you can catch include a replica of the Monster Book of Monsters, a textbook used by students in the movie, as well as a LEGO-bricks display of Gringotts.

Studio Ghibli Artworks at Polar Bear Gallery
Studio Ghibli fans are in for a treat as Polar Bear Gallery brings you a permanent display of original celluloids from popular Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki. Works by Naohisa Inoue, who’s behind the surrealist background art for Whisper of the Heart, are also on display.

Nyonya Needlework: Embroidery and Beadwork in the Peranakan World
Learn about Peranakan culture through this exhibition on embroidery and beadwork with over 200 art pieces on display. Also look out for workshops on embroidery and beadwork.

Surviving the Japanese Occupation: War and its Legacies
