Weekend guide (15-17 June): World Cup screening, dumpling festival, Dino Invasion

An exciting range of events is happening this weekend. From attending two major music festivals in Singapore, to learning more about Europe with help from Sesame Street characters at Changi Airport, this weekend is set to keep you busy.

2018 FIFA World Cup Russia: Kick-off @ Our Tampines Hub

Catch the opening match of this years’ World Cup between host Russia and Saudi Arabia at the Our Tampines Hub’s Festive Plaza. Meet and greet players from Tampines Rovers Football Club and enjoy football stunt performances at the plaza as well. Activities there include a foosball challenge, a virtual penalty shoot-out and FIFA e-Gaming. Wear your favourite team’s jersey and you could redeem a “Survival Kit” worth $20, while stocks last. A Marvel Movie Marathon – Captain America: Civil War and Black Panther – will also be happening at the plaza from 3.15pm.

Ultra Singapore

Headliners Above & Beyond, Afrojack, DJ Snake, Nicky Romero and Steve Angello will be returning to take the stage once again in this two-day musical event. Coyu, Loco Dice, Nastia, Osia and Popof will be entertaining audiences at the festival as well, alongside local acts KAKU, Rave Republic and MYRNE.

Power Squad

The little ones will embark on an adventure of bravery and kindness with cartoon characters such as Dora the Explorer, Boots, Diego and Nella the Princess Knight. Head outdoors for fun-filled activities at the Power-Packed Carnival and grab the chance to meet Dora and friends as they undertake an explorer trail throughout the mall.

Wan Qing Dumpling Festival

Learn more about the history and cultural significance of the dumpling festival through multiple activities such as craft workshops, dumpling-making sessions, dramatised storytelling and evening music performances, both traditional and contemporary. Check out the list of activities here.

Focusing on charity, youth and community, this group exhibition showcases around 5,000 pieces from 500 artists as it aims to inspire all Singaporeans to share in the joy of creating and enjoying art. Highlights include kid-friendly workshops and a sharing session by Keyakismos (Eitaro Ogawa and Tamae Iwasaki).

Discover Europe with Sesame Street

Embark on an European adventure with characters from Sesame Street this June school holidays as they bring you to Central and Eastern Europe. Have fun at the Sesame Street Inflatable Playground at Terminal 4, featuring life-sized characters and fun obstacles such as tunnels, a ladder, a climbing wall and two gigantic walls. Grab the chance to meet your favourite Sesame Street characters in person at the live shows and exclusive fan meets, as well.

Other highlights include exploring iconic landmarks of Berlin, Budapest, Moscow, Prague and Warsaw at its exhibition, and taking on the Europe Bobsleigh Adventure tracks, inspired by the Bobsleigh Track in Prague, Czech Republic.

One Dance with Justin Mylo

The Dutch DJ will play some of his killer beats and melodic basslines in this one-night performance at Zouk. Mylo will be supported by DJs Hong & Zushan for his performance. The 23-year-old gained recognition after collaborating with fellow Dutch DJ Martin Garrix for the song Bouncy Bob.

Explore a World of Living Colours at Asia’s Largest Bird Paradise

Take part in a slew of dinosaur-related activities at Singapore’s largest integrated community and lifestyle hub. Explore and learn more about dinosaurs through the different stations such as the educational zone and the mini obstacle course. Role play as dinosaur hunters or archaeologist at the Dino Invasion adventure playground and keep an eye out for a roaming dinosaur and her baby at the Festive Mall. Enjoy free blockbuster movie screenings, including Jurassic World and The Incredibles 2, at the hub as well.
