Wayne Lai wants to try acting in mainland China

20 Feb – TVB actor Wayne Lai recently revealed that he is planning to broaden his market to mainland China, following the footsteps of actors like Raymond Lam, Wong Cho Lam, and Ada Choi.

As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who shared the information on a radio interview recently, revealed that he is currently in talks to do dramas and variety shows in the north, which he hopes to do sometime after the Lunar New Year.

"In the past, I have a lot of things to think about if I wanted to go [to mainland China]. But now it's fine, since my son has already left for the United States to further his studies," he said.

When asked what his wife said about him doing acting projects in the mainland, Wayne said that he would take her with him too.

"Do you think I would leave without her? She has been very accommodating and helpful to me all these years. I would be relieved if she is with me," he said.

On the other hand, Wayne also shared that his contract with TVB is expiring in May, and that they will begin negotiating for a renewal soon.

Wayne stated that rather than sign a one-drama per year agreement, he would rather TVB give him some flexibility in terms of choosing his projects.
