Wayne Lai wants something new in future projects

27 Dec – If there is one type of character Wayne Lai hopes to portray in his future project, it would be a complex character hailing from the very bottom of the society.

As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who sat down for an interview recently, revealed that he has never been given such a role in his previous dramas, and would love to play characters that live a hard life.

"But this kind of characters is few and far between. After being in this industry for many years, an actor would want something new and exciting," he said.

However, at the same time, Wayne admitted that great roles become scarce with age.

"I will wait patiently for such a role to come," he added.

At the same time, Wayne, who has been filming in mainland China for the past year, said that he did pay attention to one TVB series in particular - the sleeper hit "Barrack O'Karma" starring Joel Chan.

"It made me realise that viewers needed something new. "Barrack O'Karma" was similar to shows like "The Zone" and "Mystery Beyond", and it had been a long time since someone did a series with this kind of subject. Coupled with modern technology, an "old bottle" and "new wine" can actually create something new," he said.
