Every time I see Tom Holland in character as Peter Parker and in the suit as your friendly, neighbourhood Spider-Man, I can’t help but come to the same conclusion: He was BORN to play the role (sorry, Andrew Garfield). And the latest Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer bears that out even more.

There is more of the sizzling chemistry between Peter and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr), who has a substantial role as the superhero mentor, and a very, very menacing Adrian Toomes a.k.a. The Vulture (Michael Keaton). “The world’s changing, boys,” says he – could he be addressing the Sinister Six?

We also have the very familiar Peter Parker angst (“You need to stop carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders,” says Marisa Tomei’s Aunt May). Fortunately, he has the support of best friend Ned Leeds (Filipino-American actor Jacob Batalon) – though his name should give Peter cause for concern, since he eventually becomes The Hobgoblin in the comics.

And let’s not forget The Shocker (Bokeem Woodbine), who’s allied with The Vulture, not to mention love interest Liz Allan (Laura Harrier). The trailer does seem fairly jam-packed with action, and you have to wonder if it might all be a bit too much.

Spider-Man: Homecoming opens in Singapore on July 6. Check out the first Homecoming trailer here.
