Besides the Infinity War trailer and the behind-the-scenes footage from The Last Jedi, another highlight of Disney’s live-action movie panel at D23 this weekend: the release of the first trailer for A Wrinkle in Time.
Based on a beloved series of sci-fi fantasy novels by Madeleine L’Engle, A Wrinkle in Time tells the story of teenager Meg Murry (newcomer Storm Reid) who goes on a magical journey to rescue her father (Chris Pine) when he mysteriously disappears after making a scientific discovery.
Directed by the acclaimed Ava DuVernay, the movie has a cast rife with some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Oprah Winfrey as Mrs Which, Reese Witherspoon as Mrs Whatsit, and Mindy Kaling as Mrs Who. The three Mrs Ws are supernatural beings who help Meg, her brother Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe) and her friend Calvin (Levi Miller) along the way.
As you can see from the trailer, the art direction is GORGEOUS and otherworldly, and the prospect of seeing so many kickass actresses as the trio of Mrs Ws is already making me excited. The Wrinkle in Time series have delighted many a child since its publication, and with the movie, it looks like it’ll usher in a new generation of fans soon.
A Wrinkle in Time is slated for release on March 9, 2018.
