Warner Bros’ parent company WarnerMedia has launched an investigation into the production of 2017 superhero movie Justice League, following allegations of misconduct made by star Ray Fisher, according to Variety.

Fisher, who played Cyborg in the film, has spoken out in recent weeks about events during reshoots in the summer of 2017.

He has alleged misconduct on the part of director Joss Whedon, who replaced Zack Snyder, and producers Geoff Johns and Jon Berg.

Fisher tweeted on Thursday, welcoming the news of the investigation and promising that the “toxic and abusive work of environment” on the set would be exposed.

Fisher first spoke out against Whedon in July, retracting praise he had previously offered to the Avengers filmmaker at a Comic-Con panel.

The 32-year-old later accused Whedon of being “gross, abusive and unprofessional” during filming and stated that Geoff Johns made a “thinly veiled threat” to his career.

Whedon replaced Snyder on the project when the original director stepped aside following the death of his daughter.

Warner Bros has since confirmed that the long-rumoured “Snyder Cut” of Justice League will be released via HBO Max in 2021.

Snyder’s cut of Justice League is believed to include more of Fisher’s character, who received a fairly meagre amount of screen time in the finished movie.

It is expected to run to around four hours and may be split into multiple parts when it arrives on the HBO Max streaming service in the USA.

HBO Max is not available in the UK and, at the time of writing, release plans for the Snyder Cut on this side of the Atlantic have not been revealed.

The first trailer for Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League is set to debut during the DC FanDome virtual event this weekend.
