War for the Planet of the Apes first details

It’s official - ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ just got a synopsis.

It’s the movie ‘Planet of the Apes’ fans have been waiting for - Andy Serkis is back in the upcoming sequel to ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’. But so far, the production has been shrouded in secrecy.

Thankfully, the film’s first trailer is said to appear online next week. And now we have some idea what it’s all going to be about with an official synopsis.

“In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel.”

Of course, ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ saw a group of soldiers arriving from a nearby military base in order to help combat the apes… but will the Colonel be connected to these same soldiers?

For now, we have to wait and see.

“After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins this own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.”

Andy Serkis will star as the ape leader, Caesar with Judy Greer, Karin Konoval, Terry Notary and Max Lloyd-Jones. Woody Harrelson joins as the Colonel alongside Gabriel Chavarria and Chad Rook.

Matt Reeves will return to direct, based on a screenplay he co-wrote with Mark Bomback.

‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ heads to cinemas on 14 July 2017.
