Want to be part of Eurovision 2021? Singer Daði Freyr is calling for submissions

Think you have what it takes to be part of Eurovision 2021? Well, you don’t have to be from Europe to ‘submit’ your singing voice.

Icelandic musician Daði Freyr who’s living in Berlin, Germany, shared in a Facebook video post calling for submissions as he currently “doesn’t have access to a choir group.” The singer was due to represent Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 but it got cancelled.

Daði wants to put together a huge remote choir group for the track and would love for fans around the world to be a part of it, so he is inviting everyone to record themselves singing one of the choir parts of his song. How rad!

The choir bit will be included on the official song release with Daði & Gagnamagnið and fans could even hear their own voices in Eurovision 2021.

Everything that fans need to take part is available to download here - but remember, the deadline is Monday, January 11th, so be quick!

Daði & Gagnamagnið Choir Guidelines:

1. Please name the audio files with the corresponding number from the examples.

2. Please make the audio file start from the same spot as in the examples.

3. Please minimise background noise when recording your vocal.

4. You can do 1,2,3,4,5,6 or all 7 of the voices. But keep them in separate files, please.

5. Please send the audio files to gagnamagnidchoir@gmail.com

6. Please have fun.

7. The lyrics are “Finds a new way to grow”

Last year in June, Netflix debuted Will Ferrell’s Eurovision film entitled ‘The Story of Fire Saga’ which quickly reigned at number one on Netflix’s most-watched movies chart.

The comedy, which was written by Ferrell, follows the journey of an Icelandic band, Fire Saga – as members Lars Erickssong (played by Ferrell) and Sigrit Ericksdottir (Rachel McAdams) – stumbled upon the chance to represent their country in the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest.

If you’d like a refresher on what Eurovision is all about (the showmanship! the glitz!) we’d recommend you to catch ‘The Story of Fire Saga’ on Netflix.
