'The Walking Dead' season premiere draws 17 million viewers
The numbers are in: 17 million Americans tuned into the season 7 premiere of TV series "The Walking Dead" over the weekend.
New figures show that viewership neared an all-time high on Sunday, when the series kicked off its seventh season. But this was not enough to shatter its own record of 17.29 million viewers from the premiere of Season 5.
"The Walking Dead" outperformed both "Sunday Night Football" and the season 3 premiere of "Empire" which debuted last month.
