  • Selling Sunset’s Chrishell Stause was once in talks to star on The Bachelorette.

  • The role was given to DeAnna Pappas instead, FYI!

Clare Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette is currently chugging along like The Little Engine That Could Do The Most, but plz hold, we’re here to talk about Chrishell Stause.

Chrishell was catapulted into the spotlight this year thanks to her high-profile split from Justin Hartley coinciding with a truly excellent season of Selling Sunset—and now she’s competing on Dancing With the Stars. But apparently, once upon a time, Chrishell was in talks to be the Bachelorette.

ABC executive Robert Mills revealed this nugget of info on Nick Viall’s podcast, The Viall Files (via People), saying he and Chrishell once had lunch to discuss her becoming the show’s next lead.

“I actually had lunch with Chrishell—this was about 10 or 11 years ago—to talk about being the Bachelorette,” he said. “We had this incredible lunch—I think it was at the Beverly Hills Hotel—and she was awesome. And I was convinced. I’m like, ‘This is the Bachelorette.’”

So...what happened? Apparently, a bunch of people including, randomly, Ellen DeGeneres, wanted the role to be given to DeAnna Pappas. “I remember Ellen DeGeneres actually calling the president of ABC at the time saying, ‘This woman needs to be the Bachelorette,’” Robert said. “This was before we even said we were going to do a Bachelorette. And, at that point, it’s like, ‘Well, how do we not do that?’”

I mean...Chrishell is single right now and there’s always next season. Just saying.
