Vinterior launches new resale platform
Online secondhand furniture seller Vinterior has made it easier than ever to buy and sell pre-loved pieces. Previously, the website only enabled professional sellers to list items, but now, thanks to its Resale platform, anyone with a quality item can list it.
Vinterior specialises in top-notch pre-owned furniture – whether its contemporary, vintage or antique. The site lists tables, chairs, wardrobes, sideboards, sofas and much more, available in over 25 styles including mid-century, Art Deco, shabby chic and Bauhaus, plus French, Italian and Chinese antiques.
Currently, over 2,000 sellers from 30 countries use the platform – and over 500,000 shoppers browse it each month.
Have a nice sideboard you no longer need? It's free to list an item – and sellers only pay commission when they make a sale.
'Vinterior Resale feels like the natural next progression for Vinterior,' says brand director, Lucy Ward. 'We've cultivated a loyal design conscious audience who champion pre-owned and we wanted to make it easier for them to shop in a way that's better for the planet by giving them the ability to not only buy, but also sell their pieces with us, creating a fully circular shopping experience.
'I was one of the first to list on Resale as I'm currently doing a renovation and needed to re-home a couple of pieces before the builders arrived. It was great to sell a few items that weren't going to work in the new space. My much-loved farmhouse table went to a shop in Borough Market. The idea that someone else will be using it for years to come makes me very happy.'
Listing is easy too. Sellers simply upload details and photos of their item, then a professional curation team will review the listing. When approved, the piece will be shown to buyers, and once sold, it can be popped in the post. Larger items can be sent via the delivery company Proovia and Vinterior will help to make arrangements. Payments are made securely through Stripe and sellers get paid once the item arrives safely.
Vinterior was set up in 2016 when founder Sandrine Zhang Ferron spotted a gap in the e-commerce market for pre-loved furniture.
Her aim was to provide a place where users could discover one-of-a-kind pieces and shop more sustainably. She began by encouraging expert antique dealers to list items, but this year decided to allow anyone with a quality piece to list it.
