Viceland Taps Ex-NBC Late-Night PR Exec Marc Liepis As Head of Communications

TV veteran Marc Liepis has been named VP Communications for Viceland. He will oversee communications for the recently launched cable channel, reporting to Alex Detrick, Chief Communications Officer of Vice Media, and Viceland General Manager Guy Slattery.

Liepis served over a decade as Senior Director of Media Relations for NBC Late Night, specifically Late Night with Conan O’Brien and Saturday Night Live, as well as serving as a VP for ID PR. Liepis left the NBC PR job to become one of the original producers of Emmy-nominated Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. His writing credits include ABC’s reboot of The $100,000 Pyramid and ABC News’ Nightline.

In addition, Jake Goldman, has been elevated to VP Communications for Vice Media. Goldman joined the youth brand in 2014 after working in former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s administration and has worked in communications across Vice’s corporate, international and news divisions.

“What makes Marc such a rare find is how well his sweeping and eclectic experience fits in with the creative climate at Viceland, said Detrick. “This is a guy who was a top comms pro at SNL, a producer for a franchise late-night show and a versatile writer in daytime, primetime and news. At every step, Marc helped young talent develop their ideas, shows and rising careers — in other words, he should feel right at home here.” Detrick added about Goldman: “He’s a force of nature.”

Viceland, owned by Vice Media and A+E Networks, recently earned two Emmy nominations for Gaycation (with Ellen Page and Ian Daniel) and Woman (featuring Gloria Steinem). The network will launch in the UK and Ireland in September 2016, and France later this year.
