13 Feb – Veteran singer-actress Armida Siguion-Reyna has recently passed away.
As reported on PEP, the news was confirmed by her sister, Irma Potenciano, who revealed that Siguion-Reyna died of cancer at the Makati Medical Centre on 11 February.
Her brother and former Senate president Juan Ponce Enrile also expressed sadness over her passing, urging the public not to forget her contribution to the Filipino music industry.
"Despite all this, I am happy that she is now able to rest," he added.
Known for her illustrious career in music, film, television, and theatre, Siguion-Reyna also produced and starred in her own film musicals like "Dung-aw", "Lakambini", and "Supremo". She was also the chairperson of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board during the Estrada administration.
However, she is most known for her show, "Aawitan Kita".
She was 88.
