Venti is back in Genshin Impact! Should you wish for him?
The bard Venti was the first exclusive banner character in Genshin Impact, and the rerun of his Ballad in Goblets banner in the upcoming 1.4 update could be a chance for latecomers to get their hands on him.
Read on to find out our thoughts on Venti and his new banner mates, and if this banner is something you should spend your primogems on.
All about Venti
It's probably a testament to Venti's utility that he is still considered a top tier character for both domains and exploration, though he really isn't someone you'd bring to face single-boss enemies.
Venti at Constellation 0 is easily one of the best crowd-control characters in the game, rivalled perhaps only by Zhongli, especially if you're looking at him as a support. You can play a DPS Venti, but he really shines when working together in a team.
His Elemental Skill, Skyward Sonnet, can be used to launch enemies into the air, or held down to launch Venti into the air (which can be useful for a lot of exploration puzzles early on, especially combined with his first ascension passive). Both do Area of Effect (AoE) Anemo damage to enemies, too.
Venti's Elemental Burst, Wind's Grand Ode, basically sucks in normal enemies towards it, but watching your foes get tossed around by a mini tornado isn't the best part of his Burst. Throw in a Hydro, Pyro, Cryo or Electro attack and Venti's Burst deals additional elemental damage, which makes it great for elemental reactions.
In addition, Venti's other ascension passive can give Energy back to Venti and your other teammates if an elemental absorption occurs. Combined with Energy Recharge weapons or sub stats on artifacts, as well as the 15 second cooldown on Venti's Burst, this makes our bard a very viable battery for your team.
Venti's weapon options are plenty, with the Favonius Warbow an easy pick for F2P or budget players, to Stringless or Sacrificial Bow on the gacha end. There's also the new upcoming 5* Elegy for the End, which is more supported oriented than the current 5* options like Amos Bow and Skyward Harp.
As for artifacts sets, Venti works well with the Viridescent Venerer 4-piece, especially if you're using him to trigger elemental and swirl reactions.
Other artifacts to consider would be the 2-piece Noblesse Oblige and 2-piece Gambler set, or straight out go with a 4-piece Noblesse Oblige.
Constellation-wise, Venti's C1 is pretty much useless and just a prerequisite only if you intend to get his C2, which adds Anemo and Physical shred to his Elemental Skill. His C4 gives bonus damage, while his C6 adds Anemo and Elemental shred to his Burst.
Overall, Venti is a very viable character at C0, and definitely worth adding to your roster, should your primogem budget allow it.
Other banner characters
As always, the other banner characters should also play a part in your consideration on whether or not to wish for a 5*, unless you're a megawhale or higher.
Razor is a very decent DPS for F2P or budget players, especially given the respectable F2P claymore weapons that can be crafted, the renamed Prototype Archaic and the Snow-Tombed Starsilver (which has Physical damage as its secondary stat).
Additionally, Razor is a very selfish DPS, meaning his play style pretty much requires him to be the active character most of the time. This works especially well for lower budget players, who only have the resources to pour into limited characters. Razor also works well at C0, and only gets better with more Constellations.
Noelle, with the recent Geo boost, is another good potential DPS who can dual as a healer, especially since the claymore Whiteblind is also a craftable weapon. And given that she scales with Defence instead of Attack, it's easier to find the right artifacts for her (because we all know how artifact drops are like).
However, unlike Razor, Noelle does need some of her Constellations to become a viable DPS, especially her C6, which allows her to full make use of her Defence stats in an offensive manner.
Finally, there is Sucrose, who, depending on your investment, can be either a mini-Venti or so much more.
Pair her with Sacrificial Fragments and get her up to at least C2, toss on more Elemental Mastery, and Sucrose is on her way to becoming the Queen of Swirls. She can also work surprisingly well with Venti. Swirl away!
